Every year since starting this amazing journey I’ve chosen a word to mark it. In 2019 it was inspired with a new website launch. 2020 was patience as I worked hard to build my brand and establish myself as the Queen of Customer Service. 2021 was believe as I kept the consumer faith against the odds and in 2022, I was grateful for every single opportunity and for all the amazing people who helped make my dream a reality. 2023 was alignment as everything came together beautifully at last, 2024 has been a year to embrace change and go with the flow. 2025 is anticipation, please do read on to find out why.

The story so far

In 2019 I was featured in national press as one of the Top 5 Consumer Champions in the UK and made a live TV debut on BBC Breakfast covering regifting.  It’s hard to believe that I tentatively started to write a blog not really knowing where it would lead. Fast forward to the present day where I’m not only a respected consumer champion specialising in travel in my own right but am also a published author, radio presenter and award-winning personal finance expert.

Radio

My first ever radio appearance was with Kate Justice on BBC Radio Gloucestershire when I had just started to write the blog and I absolutely loved it. Since then, I haven’t stopped for breath and am now a go to consumer expert for radio stations nationwide. Many thanks for the ongoing opportunities and invitations. Particular highlights this year include regular appearances on BBC Radio Ulster with the legend that is Linda McAuley aka Consumer Linda and the lovely Holly Hamilton.

I have very much missed my early morning weekly slot with the fabulous Jason Rosam on BBC Radio London, he’s such a loss to the Beeb airwaves. But…. have been pleased to be able to still regularly chat with another of my absolute radio faves, Jim Davis and also with Nicky Price on my local station, BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Following the success of the Sunday Breakfast show, Consumer and Business shows on Dean Radio which serves the Forest of Dean, I now present the Forest Lunch Box every Tuesday 12-1pm. Many thanks as ever to Briar for the fabulous weekly recipes he serves up in Butty’s Kitchen. I’m looking forward to seeing what taste sensations he’ll share in 2025.

Blog

Since its humble origins the blog has gone from strength to strength as a platform for helping others and providing valued tips and advice. I remain proud to champion the very best of companies – and challenge the very worst. My superpower is being able to contact the uncontactable so if you need help doing so, please do get in touch. It’s also always so lovely to hear about your successes so if my advice has helped you get the refund or redress you were fighting for, please do drop me a message.

Last year I took the blog to a whole new level with the help of the blogging guru that is Emma Bradley. If you’re thinking of starting one, please do take a look at Top Blog Coaching. Having a power hour with Emma and joining the Hobby to Heyday group is one of the best blogging decisions I ever made. In 2024 I was able to quadruple my monthly blog earnings and daily views. I’ve also been accepted on the Mediavine Grow programme so the best is yet to come in 2025.

Television

TV wise, although I still firmly believe I have a face for radio, I seem to have popped up quite often on your TV screens in 2025. Highlights this year included chatting pet insurance costs on GB News and several appearances on BBC News, BBC Scotland and BBC Breakfast covering consumer and travel issues.

Customer Service Conferences and Campaigns

Since the launch of the Lady Janey blog, I’ve written extensively about customer service have been a guest keynote speaker at conferences.

I was pleased to team up with Talk Mobile covering their research in to call waiting times on hold and share my tips and tricks for getting through to a real person in the Daily Mail. More campaigns are in the pipeline and am looking forward to being able to share more details very soon.

You can hire me to speak or attend events via the award-winning Champions Speakers agency or the equally fabulous Speakers Agency.

National Press

Wow, just wow is once again the best summary of media coverage again this year. You name it and I’ve been in it. I’ve become a regular contributor to Take a Break magazine with a series of consumer and moneysaving articles, the next one coming out later this month. I’ve also continued to be featured regularly and had bylines in national press. Find out more on my Work With Me page.

My best decision media wise when starting the blog was attending a course by Fiona Scott which she ran with my journalist friend Jill Foster. I would definitely recommend Fiona’s expertise to anyone wishing to increase their profile and maximise PR opportunities. Many thanks to Guy Lambert for his ongoing support and especially to Nick Owens (Magnify PR) for his encouragement and belief in me as we embarked on a super exciting PR journey in 2024. This culminated in triple figure press coverage in December and I even have a new monthly column in newspapers from my homeland. Roll on 2025!

What’s next for Lady Janey in 2025?

If this year is anything to go by, the sky really is the limit in 2025 hence anticipation as this year’s word. I”m really so excited for the next chapter and can’t wait to get started. Please do watch this space for all updates as they come.

Happy New Year everyone. Thank you for all the genuine love and encouragement.

Take care and stay fabulous!

Janey x
