Neutral home decor is a classic for a reason – it’s easy, makes your home look stylish and modern no matter when it was last updated, and you can add anything to it. Plus, if you want to sell your home, it’s what most buyers are going to want anyway. But the truth is that as much as neutral decor is great and has loads of benefits, sometimes neutral spaces can feel a little bit too… well, neutral. That’s where adding a bit of sparkle can make all the difference and give your home a unique and beautiful look you’ll love. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to add sparkle to neutral home decor – you’re going to want to get started right away!

Use Metallics
Metallic accents are an excellent choice when it comes to adding some sparkle to your home, and they’re easy to add to your existing decor, so they’re a good place to start (and perhaps finish if you don’t want to do too much). You can choose gold, silver, rose, brass, and so on, and whatever you pick – and in whatever finish, whether it’s matt or polished – it’s going to instantly boost the look of the room and give it a glamorous edge at the same time, while being a subtle thing to add.
You can use metallic accents in things like picture frames, lamps, little bits of decor and ornaments, or even in your soft furnishings like cushions and throws and so on. What’s great about any of these things is that they catch the light just right, making things look even better.
Use Mirrored Furniture
There’s really nothing better for adding some sparkle than reflective surfaces, so why not add some mirrored accents to your neutral room? It’s the perfect way to add some shimmer and shine but without adding too much to the overall colour scheme which can just end up being overwhelming and make the room really uncomfortable to be in – and that’s the last thing you want!
You could choose something understated like elegant mirrored furnishings for the living room, dining room, or maybe bedroom, and you’ll add a lovely new sparkly element to the room but also, because of the mirrored aspect, you can open up the space and make it feel bigger and brighter, which gives you yet another reason to go down this route.
Choose Sparkly Light Fixtures
Every room is going to need some lighting in it, even if it’s not a space that’s used as much as others (like a dining room, for example), so why not make sure the lighting you choose can add some sparkle to the space?
You could go for a sparkling chandelier or a pendant light with crystals or glass elements hanging from it, for example – when the light hits these bits, it can set off sparkles everywhere, and make your room look stunning. And if a big sparkly fixture isn’t what you want, what about a smaller version like a table lamp with a metallic finish? Then you’ve got everything you need to enjoy your neutral home decor with a bit of added sparkle!
