Every week, Saturday Spotlight just seems to get better and better! Since starting to write the blog, I’ve discovered so much fabulousness in the area and it’s so lovely to be able to share all my findings with you! This week, I’m chatting to Gillie, the owner of the most perfect countryside retreat, The Hideaway Hut in Rudford and it’s hands down one of my favourite new finds so far!
The Shepherds hut is situated on top of an old cider orchard in the heart of the Gloucestershire country side with stunning views of The Malverns and May Hill with the Forest of Dean being just a twenty minute drive away. The location is completely private, ideal for visitors looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy a cosy, romantic break.Don’t be fooled by the name ‘hut’ as there is so much more to this fabulous little hideaway than you could ever imagine- in fact it’s glamping on a whole new level! I could even be a convert! 😉
In true Lady Janey fashion, I pitched up to meet Gillie forgetting that was wearing my heels- whoops! However, after managing to totter up the gravel path to the hut, I was so excited by what I saw! There’s a cosy log burner, a large veranda so you can enjoy views of the breathtaking countryside, a comfy king size bed, (bigger than the one we have at home!) state of the art bathroom with power shower and radio, lovely fluffy towels and lots of lovely little toiletry luxuries! You can either cook on top or in the oven of the wood burner or if you prefer, and the Gloucestershire weather permits, cook outside on the purpose made BBQ and fire pit. Gillie is the perfect host, so welcoming and thoughtful in the little touches provided in the hut. I really hope you enjoy reading what she had to say.
Hi Gillie, please tell me about your company and its history
The Hideaway Hut was bought for an extra bedroom and used for family and friends. A close friend from Antigua stayed several times and mentioned to share the hut and beautiful location for guests to use.
Why is good customer service important?
Customer service is a big part of my business, I want my guests to have a wonderful stress free time, and hopefully return. I treat all my guests just like i would like to be treated myself.
How would you rate the quality of customer service you deliver and why?
I try my best to give all guests the highest amount of attention, making sure that they are always greeted with a friendly smile, nothing is to much trouble, being very approachable but making sure that they have their own privacy and space to enjoy the idyllic location. The customer service I deliver is tailored to each guests needs and personality, good communication before and after their stay is important and I try to build a rapport with them.
How do you deal with any complaints?
If I was to have any complaints they would be addressed immediately, hopefully sorted or give the guests full details of how I would resolve the situation. A bottle of complementary wine or breakfast hamper would always be offered.
How do you encourage customer loyalty?
Returning guests is a great reward. I offer reduced prices at different times of the year.
Why should people choose you as a company?
At the Hideaway Hut all guests are given my full attention, getting a very personal service. The hut is cosy, romantic and very comfortable situated in a beautiful isolated location being a wonderful place for s short break away in the countryside to recharge the batteries.
Where can people find you?
It has been such a pleasure to chat to Gillie. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be up for a bit of ging gang goolie around the campfire but I can quite honestly say that I literally cannot wait to go and check this out for myself. There’s even a hairdryer- and a big enough fridge for all my wine! 😉
Until next week everyone! Cin cin!
