With wedding season fast approaching, I am just so excited about this week’s fabulous Saturday Spotlight guest! There’s always so much to organise for a wedding but once you’ve read this, you might just find that you don’t have as much to do anymore! Please welcome to the Lady Janey sofa, Katie from Lapstone Barn, Chipping Camden, a fabulous NEW all inclusive Cotswolds wedding venue!
Hi Katie, please tell me about your company and its history
Lapstone Barn is the newest wedding venue in the Cotswolds, having launched in January 2018. Nestled in the rolling Cotswold countryside, just two miles from Chipping Campden, it is a beautiful 18th century Grade II listed stone barn, with a contemporary extension, surrounding a courtyard garden. My husband and I have run an events business for 15 years, so although weddings are new to Lapstone Barn, weddings are not new to us! We are a very experienced team so you’re in very safe hands!
Why is good customer service important?
Good customer service is very much a core focus of our business. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional service on the most important day of brides and grooms lives. From their first point of contact, be it by telephone or email, they need to be made to feel special and this is reflected in the way we handle all of our enquiries, right through the booking process and wedding planning stages. A wedding is just one day but the planning is a hugely important part of it, which can take months and can get very stressful – it is our job to guide our customers through the entire process, finishing with putting on the wedding day of their dreams.
How would you rate the quality of customer service you deliver and why?
We are only as good as your last wedding – that’s our motto! With website reviews and social media platforms, there is no place for poor customer service in this market. Every bride and groom is welcomed to Lapstone Barn with a cup of coffee and plenty of time to chat through their day. We never rush anyone through the viewing process as we know that good first impressions really do count. They need to know from this moment on, they will be looked after professionally and we will deliver the highest level of customer service possible, till the very last guest leaves the barn on the wedding night.
How do you deal with any complaints?
None so far – phew! If and when we do receive them, we will listen carefully to the issues and try to find a solution that all parties are happy with. Part of the events business is problem solving, and hopefully we will have spotted problems before they even arise, so we can avoid them in the first place.
How do you encourage customer loyalty?
Due to the nature of the wedding industry, there is not a lot of repeat business – we hope! Of course good recommendations are integral to our business, and with our growing social media presence we are trying to engage with out customers in a meaningful way so that they will remember who we are – and hopefully recommend Lapstone Barn to friends and family in the future.

It has been lovely to chat to Katie today! Almost makes me want to get married again- or maybe not. I have quite vivid memories of my transformation into Brideszilla during the preparations for my own wedding. However having a venue like this might just have saved my sanity!
