2021, what a year and in more ways than one! Here’s a look back at the past year and a look forward to what’s coming up in 2022 for Lady Janey.

Queen of Customer Service
Two years ago I featured as one of the Top 5 Consumer Champions in the UK in the Daily Mail and made a fabulous LIVE TV debut on BBC Breakfast. 2020 was an equally exciting media rollercoaster and 2021 has beautifully followed suit. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago I tentatively started to write a blog not really knowing where it would lead. Fast forward to the present day where I’m not only a respected consumer champion and travel expert in my own right but am also an author, radio presenter AND the undisputed………….. Queen of Customer Service!
2021 has been yet another amazing year for Lady Janey and I could not have done it without your support and encouragement. My profile has continued to grow in a way I could never have imagined. Although the last couple of Covid years have been challenging on a personal level, when it comes to my work as a consumer champion specialising in travel, I’ve had a truly marvellous pandemic! 2021 has been THE year of opportunity and I’ve loved every single second.
Radio
My first ever radio appearance was with Kate Justice on BBC Gloucestershire back at the very start of my blogging journey and I absolutely loved it! Since then I’ve worked my way through the ranks and am now a ‘go to’ consumer expert for a number of national and local radio stations including Radio Ulster, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Scotland and Wales.
Following the success of presenting the Sunday Breakfast show on Dean Radio, I now host my own weekly Consumer and Business Shows and have a country music show on Rocking Fox Radio. In addition I have a regular consumer slot on BBC Radio Gloucestershire with Faye Hatcher and am a weekly guest expert on BBC Radio London’s Early Breakfast Show covering finance and consumer news with Jason Rosam.
Planning and presenting my own consumer radio show has been one of the highlights of this year. I’ve covered a whole range of topics with THE most amazing guests both on the show and also my NEW podcast series on Anchor. It’s been a real honour and pleasure to feature interviews with the very best consumer and finance experts including Adam French from Which? Martyn James Resolver, Alice Beer, Paul Charles and Scott Dixon.
As the year has gone by, the industry I love has been crucified by Coronavirus. Travel as been the biggest casualties and it looks like the journey is set to still be fraught with bumps for some time to come. My heart just breaks for all those affected whose worlds have been torn apart by the fallout from Covid-19. In the face of a new variant, consumer confidence is at an all time low and there seem to be more obstacles than hoops. However as my consumer chum Scott always quite rightly says ‘the comebacks are always better than the setbacks’ so let’s just hope brighter days are just round the corner.

Television
In 2021 I was pleased to regularly cover travel related issues on BBC Your Questions Answered, BBC regional news and GB news. The absolute hands down highlight of 2020 was joining Matt Allwright and Kym Marsh on Your Money Your Life as The Queen of Customer Service.’ Wow, what an accolade! I didn’t think anything could top that but this year I not only appeared on Watchdog as a consumer journalist but…. I’m the latest addition to the Rip Off Britain team of consumer experts. Watch this space for more updates as they come!

Award Nomination!
Last but by no means least, did you know that I had been nominated for not just one but FOUR UK Moneyblogger SHOMO awards alongside THE biggest and best of UK Moneybloggers? Two are panel judged but two are open to the public vote.
I keep having to pinch myself to check that am not dreaming as the bloggers I share listings with are just THE best in the industry and am such a tiny fish in comparison. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to me if I won so if you do feel you can support me by voting for the two People’s Choice categories then I would be so very grateful. I haven’t got a hope without your help. Voting closes 2nd January.
Two categories:
Blog: https://ladyjaney.co.uk/
Influencer: https://twitter.com/ladyjaney75
https://ukmoneybloggers.com/vote-for-your-favourite-money-blogs-and-influencers-of-2021-shomos/
What’s next for Lady Janey?
It’s onwards and upwards for LJ in 2022 as I take to your screens in the new series of Rip Off Britain. January will see the publication of a Take a Break Supersavers special where I not appear in a Q & A section as a Money Doctor but also appear in a full feature covering how to be a savvy traveller in 2022. This will be the third time I’ve appeared in the festive SuperSavers edition of Take a Break and I can’t wait to see my feature in print!
As for what else is yet to come unfortunately my lips must remain sealed for now. However what I can say is that my belief that #shesaidshescouldsoshedid is now more valid than ever and I am set to absolutely rock 2022!
Happy New Year everyone! Take care and stay safe in 2022!
Janey x
