I am always keen to champion local businesses so was really excited on Saturday night to be able to attend the launch night of the new Hop Barn at Hillside Brewery, Longhope.

This family owned Gloucestershire brewery is just on my doorstep, and although it has always been on my list as a ‘must visit’ place, I’m quite shame faced to admit that this was my first time up there but have now been left wondering what possible occasion I can think of celebrating to make the most of such a great local venue.

What I found really impressive when looking at their website before the visit was that there’s so much more to the brewery than first meets the eye. Alongside tours with prices starting from a very reasonable £15.00 which includes a tasting of four of their classic ales, Hillside Brewery also offers the opportunity to brew your own unique ale with the guidance of their Head Brewer, Will and if all this wasn’t enough, it also boasts a range of different and exciting experience days to suit a variety of occasions and interests. I would definitely recommend taking a look at their website to find out more or call up there to chat with one of the team.

The Hop Barn itself is an ideal venue for almost any occasion with attention to detail in all aspects of the design. It’s conveniently located just off the A40 and there is more than ample car parking. There’s so much scope within the venue for creating your own bespoke occasion and, all importantly, there is a lovely, long, well stocked bar.

Nothing was too much trouble on Saturday for launch night. Everyone was working hard to ensure the success of the evening, extra seating was provided within seconds, food and drink were plentiful and guests were well looked after with staff genuinely enthusiastic and pleased to help.

The ‘Beer Boss’ Paul and the ‘Big Beer Boss’ Peter were the perfect hosts and were on the go all evening, doing their upmost to ensure that all guests had the best of nights. It was a real team effort with staff clearly very passionate and proud of the brewery and this was reflected in the quality of customer service provided.

There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere with the barn proving itself to be the perfect place to celebrate for young and old and with live music provided by the band, Vapor, it was the perfect opportunity to kick up your heels and enjoy the party. Thank you Hillside Brewery. Here’s to the next one!

I contacted Hillside Brewery about attending this event and have written this review because I really enjoyed the evening and therefore wanted to share this experience. Any opinions and comments are my own.
