And relax. Those were my exact thoughts when I arrived at the HiEx Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham after yet another bumper busy day. Just stepping into an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of daily life was such a relief. Located in the heart of Cheltenham, the Holiday Inn Express is the ideal retreat to wind down, while away the evening and recharge those dwindling batteries. It’s also the ideal mid journey stop off to take in all the festival town has to offer and make plans for more adventures!

This was my first post pandemic hotel stay and I must admit that was feeling a little anxious about it all especially after shielding for so long. However within seconds of arrival, every single doubt, anxiety and worry just disappeared and I could not have felt more safe, secure and welcome.

There have been obvious changes in line with government guidelines. However, it was reassuring to see that these have been implemented sympathetically without detracting from the Holiday Inn Express experience in any shape or form. It’s still very much the place to ‘take your day off mute’, connect with others, spend time with those you love and create those special ‘back together’ moments we have been dreaming of.

A stay at the Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham is far more than just somewhere to rest your head; it’s an experience. From booking and checking in to dining and relaxing, each aspect of the customer journey has been thoughtfully imagined and perfectly captured. It was particularly lovely to discover a little gift in my room. Such gestures are reflective of the warm welcome, which awaits you each and every time.

There’s ample workspace on the ground floor where guests can comfortably work from new high stools and tables with connectivity or integrated iPads.  Alternatively for those who prefer more privacy then each room is zoned through the creation of a desk and seating area. There are multiple plug sockets and USB ports for charging devices and the hotel offers essential free WIFI access for business and leisure travellers alike.

As the sun starts to set after a busy day, the light and airy open plan lounge area with its contemporary décor, stunning feature fireplace and soft lighting is the perfect spot to retreat and as I discovered, it’s also perfect for spending quality time with family and friends.

The last time I saw Sarah was at the launch party of the HiEx Cheltenham back in January 2020. It was so lovely to be able to catch up in the very capable hands of our host Alina and the comfort of the HiEx lounge over a chilled glass of wine and delicious supper from the Express Bar Menu.

To start we opted for the perfectly portioned Nachos and Fish Cakes and as a main course the HiEx Stuffed Crust Pizza and Macaroni Cheese with garlic bread.

As we were ‘out out’ then we couldn’t resist testing out the desserts too; a cheeky Chocolate Orange Melt in the Middle and everyone’s guilty secret Sticky Toffee Pudding served with soft ice cream.

After supper, I was more than ready to retire to my super chic room with its crisp linen and soft pillows (or you can opt for firmer ones should you prefer). Despite the Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham being centrally situated, there wasn’t a hint of road noise and I enjoyed some much-needed uninterrupted sleep. Pure bliss!

Many thanks to General Manager Akshay Karkera and Sales Manager Wyatt Davis at the HiEx Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham for the invite to enjoy a post pandemic stay with dinner and breakfast. It was the first time I had been properly able to relax in months and I’m already penciling in a return visit!
